Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee www.dptac.gov.uk Disabled Go is a website giving accessibility guidance to many UK towns/cities. Many Local Authorities have Access Officers and Public Transport Officers. Larger urban areas have Public Transport Executives who must provide info for disabled travellers. I have used Insure and Go twice now. They had to consult
a doctor about NM, but accepted the policy without any extra charge. (D.McDougall) The Post Office gave me a good deal, but the policy would not cover any illness relating to NM. (DMcD) Advert found in Target MD magazine. All Clear web address is similar to Unique. Companies must be connected somehow. |

| Oxygen |
Imogen One for in flight

Recommended by an adult trache/vent user who has NM. WHEN I FLEW LAST YEAR HOME FOR A VISIT AND NEEDED TO BE ON OXYGEN I USED AN INOGEN ONE ITS LIGHTWEIGHT SMALL AND RUNS ON GEL BATTERIES I LOVED IT,THE ONLY THING IS ITS ON DEMAND OXYGEN SO DON'T THINK YOU COULD HOOK IT TO THE BIPAP I TOOK MY VENT ALONG BUT DIDN'T NEED IT FOR THE FLIGHT. |

| Oxygen | Precise
Flight This website contains info on using oxygen in aviation and
may give you some idea as to why they have these precautions. |
Its been a few years since I did any science, but I am guessing
the reasons for the oxygen handling is probably due to the effects of altitude on oxygen supply. |

| Tenerife, Canary Islands |
There is a purpose built complex on Tenerife for people with
disabilities. Apartments share the communal pool which has a hoist. Wheelchairs, scooters etc. can be hired for a small fee. Tenerife's climate is lovely and warm all year round. Article in a disability magazine. |
100%. The complex is fully wheelchair friendly.
| Toronto, Canada | The name Toronto means "meeting place". Overlooks
fabulous lakes where you can take boats trips. The CN Tower is a "must
do" experience. As is having a meal in the revolving restaraunt. Visited by: David McDougall |
98% wheelchair accessible. This is the reason we chose Toronto for NMC04.
| Ottawa, Canada | Very accessible. Like most of Canada and America. Visited by: David McDougall |
|||
| Leon, Spain | I have visited Alba
and her family in Leon. The city has beautiful buildings and churches. All
streets are level. Most shops are accessible with assistance. Many Bars
and cafe's have accessible washrooms. Excellent, friendly Spanish guide
available! Visited by: David McDougall |
Leon is a very old city. Therefore I would
say only about 40% wheelchair friendly. Accessible toilets are available,
but many buildings have stepped doorways. New buildings will be better. Update for 2007: Things have improved greatly in 5 years! Many more places have accessible washrooms. Medical resources for NM are poor in Spain. |
||
| Kissimmee, Florida, USA | All the main tourist attractions are wheelchair friendly.
Any that are not 100% accessible are still worth trying. Staff are always
ready to assist. Kennedy Space Centre, Disney World, Daytona Racetrack,
MGM and Universal Studios are all excellent. Many other cities in Florida
are just as good. Visited by: David McDougall, Amy Rhodes, Daphne Goring |
